Gibberish

A young man who is sobering up

Goes to a Chinese restaurant.

He is trying to look composed,

Yet he keeps failing.

He makes a joke,

“I can't understand the Chinese women speaking.

My brain is hurting

My mind is spinning

My stomach is hungry

These women need to learn English

Because it sounds to me

Like they are saying

BRRRR

TA TA TA!”

The next week

The young man tells the joke to his friends.

Again he tells what happened

Loving the attention,

“...Aaaa-nd my mind was spinning

All I wanted was to eat

And what did I get?

Chinese women talking gibberish.

My ears couldn't have been mistaken

One Chinese lady said BRRRR

While the other said TA TA TA.”

His friends all started laughing except one.

Gibberish never sounded so funny to the rest;

It sure showed the friend's personality in the joke.

Again the young man restated the joke

Having a hard time believing that this friend

Just wasn't getting the joke.

“You didn't even had to be there

To really get this joke.

These Chinese women sounded out of their minds

And it made my head spin.

I say don't let them cross the border

without an American dictionary.

Six months later,

Let's give them a test

To make sure they've earned their stay

And let's give them their citizenship.”

Again all the friends laughed except that same one.

That friend either did not get the joke

Or did not have a sense of humor.
